.......,,,,,,,,--
QUANTITY: We recommend printing 500 posters for most single-event promotion
jobs. This
number of posters will allow us to spread out your campaign & achieve the
results you want. The average time between when we receive posters & the
date of the event is 3 weeks; if you want a longer campaign, printing more posters
is advisable, as is of course printing less for rush jobs. With 500 posters,
your event will be one of the highest-profile events in the city.
.......,,,,,,,,--
CONTRAST: For eye-catching B&W posters, try to design with as much
"contrast" as possible. Black is the opposite of white, &
putting those two colors next to each other is the boldest thing you can do.
Use grays or gradients (blending) in moderation, as they generally do not translate
well from far away. The principle of "contrast" can be applied to
color/ pantone® printing too...
.......,,,,,,,,-- SIZE:
Use 11"x17". Every city seems to have its own preference,
& Seattle is definitely all about this large size. You don't have to use
it, but it helps keep things looking clean. That said, there definitely can
be very good uses for smaller designs, especially when they're wheatpasted in
clever locations. Using anything larger than 11x17 for anything other than specific
placement is not recommended, as stores won't let you put them in their windows.
.......,,,,,,,,-- THICKNESS:
The thinner the better! If you plan on doing any wheat-pasting with
your poster, thick paper stock won't adhere as well or as thoroughly to rounded
or more porous surfaces as thin paper.,
.......,,,,,,,,-- PROMOTIONS:
More more more! Please don't rely on the Midget for *everything*.. We are not the promoter - YOU are!
We would love to handle your postering & flyering, but we cannot single-handedly guarantee the success of your show. Talk to everybody you know and even some you don't,
and your enthusiasm will catch on! Try taking an ad out in The Stranger or starting an email list too.
.......,,,,,,,,-- HOW TO
MAKE WHEATPASTE (by popular demand!): Easy as pie! One (1) part
all-purpose flour to two (2) parts water. Mixing constantly, heat toward a boil
until mixture is gooey, viscous & hard to stir. Use immediately or let cool.
Note (Updated 12/05):
Wheatpasting is illegal in the City of Seattle! The Little
People Postering Company does not condone illegal activities. The above receipe
is provided only for informational purposes.
